I am Daniel Cornwall and I coordinate the State Agency Databases Across the Fifty States project for the State and Local Documents Task Force. This project was started in July 2007 with the goal of creating an annotated list of every publicly searchable database produced by a state level agency. We have now compiled hundreds of databases from all 50 States and the District of Columbia. Forty-two of the pages are maintained by a volunteer, usually a librarian.
With the blessing of the GODORT blog administrators, Rebecca Blakeley and I will be sharing weekly highlights from the state agency databases that have been discovered and described by this project, along with other project news. We had been sharing these highlights over at the State Agency Database Highlights blog at http://statedatabase.wordpress.com, but think they will receive better exposure here. We hope you will find these highlights of value and hope you will visit and contribute to our project page at http://wikis.ala.org/godort/index.php/State_Agency_Databases. For information on how you can help with the project, please see our Four Ways to Help page.
